On my way back from a trip to Mt. Baker - more on
that in a later message perhaps - and errands in
Blaine, I stopped at Eide Road arriving around
6:30 p.m. and spending an hour there.
The eastern most "pond" was entirely dry but the
next pond, the large one was full of shorebirds.
They moved around and the sun was i\unfortunately
pretty directly behind them at times but it was
quite a show.

I would estimate more than 100 Western Sandpipers
and a much smaller number of Least Sandpiper. A
quite bright Pectoral Sandpiper and a mixed group
of perhaps a dozen Yellowlegs - two to one in
favor of Greater. Also a lovely group of Long
Billed Dowitchers and a couple of Killdeer. I
looked for Semipalmated Sandpiper and Baird's
without finding either but I could easily have
missed one. Michael Willison we need you...
