Having a bad cold, I decided to call in sick to work today. Having
untreated attention deficit disorder, I decided to spend my sick day
birding around Pierce County rather than enduring the boredom of laying on
the couch.

I covered A lot of area and saw some good winter birds.

The RED-SHOULDERED HAWK was around the North pond at Gog-le-hi-te in
Tacoma at sun up.

I couldn't refind the SWAMP SPARROW at Mounts Road or the REDHEAD at
American Lake.

Solo Point-JBLM, had quite a few WESTERN GREBES.

The Fox Island bridge in Gig Harbor had four LONG-TAILED DUCKS at about
center span but no HARLEQUIN.

Kopachuck State Park had several PACIFIC LOONS, A RED-THROATED LOON and a
couple dozen WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS.

Purdy Spit had over a hundred SURF SCOTERS and at least five BLACK
SCOTERS, a couple on each side of the spit.

I felt crummy the whole day, but it was better than sitting around feeling
crummy.

Have a great day,
