After a night of 60 + mph wind gusts, the morning was surprisingly calm. And balmy. Fortunately, not much tree damage in the park. Maybe it was the weather or maybe it was just time, but the scaup are back, as well as Canvasbacks. Otherwise, not too much out of the ordinary for December.

Eurasian x American Wigeon - mixed in the with the dozens of wigeons and geese on the sports field

Canvasback - 18, near the swim platform, with Greater and Lesser Scaup and Common Goldeneye
Raptors included Red-tailed Hawk, adult Bald Eagle, and a juvenile Cooper’s Hawk
Gulls - 6 species on the swim platform: Mew (dozens), Ring-billed (7), California (8), Herring, Thayer’s, and Glaucous-winged
Barn Owl - calling from near the community center early
Varied Thrush - half a dozen, all very vocal; Promontory Point
Cedar Waxwing - many dozen

For the day, 58 species; with CANV new, 137 species for the year.
