I stopped briefly at a flooded field this morning at the intersection of Southcenter Parkway & S 200th St at about 9:45 AM during heavy rain, and birded from my truck. There was one very active Greater Yellowlegs, and at least 4 American Pipits in the field. This field usually has some water in it, and there are usually Canada Geese there. Some Canada's were there this morning. The field is the one NW of the intersection. There is some mud there, so it might be good for some shorebirds for a while.
I drove north on the Parkway toward Southcenter, and there were about 50 Cackling Geese (seems late) in a small area about 0.1 miles south of S 180th. On the east side of the Parkway. Still raining hard, and I couldn't stop to really look.
The new Southcenter Parkway South is between north Kent and Tukwila. The field w/ the Yellowlegs is about 0.3 miles east of Orillia Road.
Yours, Carol Schulz
