What a Super morning to get out and do a little birding at the
Nisqually NWR. COMMON YELLOWTHROATS and SAVANNAH SPARROWS were really
putting on a show and along the boardwalk through the estuary GREATER
YELLOWLEGS were abundant.
I had 6 WOOD DUCKS in the pond near the entrance to the refuge, and
observed two EURASIAN WIGEONS (one near the Twin Barns and the other
near the beginning of the estuary boardwalk). Also near the start of
this boardwalk there was an AMERICAN BITTEREN and a VIRGINIA RAIL
calling. Out at the far end of the estuary boardwalk was a large
group of BRANT and a single BLACK SCOTER. I also spotted a LINCOLN'S
SPARROW along the dike trail near the Twin Barns and had a RUFOUS
HUMMINGBIRD near the visitor's center; ending up with a total of 51
species for the morning....

Cheers and Good Birding;
