Hello. This is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird report. This report
was made Thursday April 3. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On April 2 a COSTA¹S HUMMINGBIRD was photographed at a Vancouver feeder. The
LaGrande RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER, North Plains YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER,
Hillsboro RUSTY BLACKBIRD, and the Ankeny NWR YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER
continue to be seen.

OSPREYS are now arriving at their nests. The first MALLARD ducklings were
seen March 31. Late ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS were reported along I5 south of
Albany March 30, near North Plains March 31, and at McMinnville April 2.

On April 2 a PURPLE MARTIN was at Tenmile lake in northern Coos County.
Three SNOW BUNTINGS were photographed March 23 on Saddle Mountain east of
Seaside. Two BROWN PELICANS were off Depoe Bay March 29. Two were at Yaquina
Bay March 31. On April 1 over 1000 DUNLIN, 88 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, 30
GREATER YELLOWLEGS, and 40 WHITE PELICANS were at Fern Ridge Reservoir.

Up to 30 LONG-BILLED CURLEWS and 127 AMERICAN CROWS were at Agency Plains in
Madras during the week. A BAIRD¹S SANDPIPER was photographed March 26 at the
Prineville Sewage Ponds. An early CHIPPING SPARROW was near Paulina March
29. On March 27 a BLACK PHOEBE was at the P Ranch in Malheur NWR. The
TRICOLORED BLACKBIRDS continue at the Headquarters bird feeders.
