Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird report. This report
was made Thursday September 5. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

On September 2 a TENNESSEE WARBLER was at Frenchman¹s Bar near Vancouver. A
LITTLE BLUE HERON was among many GREAT EGRETS at a roost near Whalen Island
Park at Sandlake south of Tillamook.

The ELEGANT TERNS continue along the coast with about 155 at Hammond. A
conspicuous SWAINSON¹S THRUSH fallout was reported August 30. The large BARN
SWALLOW roost on Grand Island south of Dayton is active again this year with
up to 100,000 there August 30. On August 30 a migrant flock of WESTERN
KINGBIRDS was at Redmond. One was at Smith/Bybee Lakes September 1.

On September 4 a BUFF-BREASTED SANDSPIPER was photographed in Bandon. An
EASTERN KINGBIRD was at Cape Blanco September 4, and a BLACK-NECKED STILT
was on the North Spit of Coos Bay the same day.

On September 3 among the many waterbirds at Smith/Bybee Lakes were 800 WHITE
PELICANS, 455 GREAT EGRETS, a SNOWY EGRET and seven COMMON TERNS. A
GRASSHOPPER SPARROW was at the Sandy River Delta September 1. Among a
conspicuous migrant fallout at Mt. Tabor Park in Portland were a DUSKY
FLYCATCHER and a BLACK SWIFT. On August 29 about 250 SHOVELERS were on the
Sheridan Sewage Ponds. A flock of 13 COMMON TERNS were over Fern Ridge
Reservoir August 29.

On September 1 a SABINE¹S GULL and a LONG-TAILED JAEGER were at Tumalo
Reservoir west of Bend. The next day a RUFF was at Hatfield Lake east of
Bend. A SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER was seen August 27 at Malheur NWR.
