Greetings Tweeters,

I spent a long day birding various sites in Grays Harbor County today. My itinerary included Capitol Forest (C-line, pre-dawn search for owls); Hoquium STP; Oceans Shores; Copalis Beach; Moclips; Tahola; Brady Loop; and Wenzel Slough Road. It was a good day despite a complete lack of owls. Several noteworthy species were located, but by far the best sighting was a ROCK WREN found at the corner of Second and Pacific Streets in Moclips (beach access). Other noteworthy sightings included the following: A Female or eclipse Harlequin Duck at the base of Point Brown Jetty; A flock of geese at the base of Damon Point that contained 13 Greater White-fronted, 4 Cackling, and one Snow Goose; A Western Meadowlark with Pipits along Burrows Road; A late Caspian Tern at Bills Spit; A pure Yellow-shafted Flicker and Pileated Woodpecker at Ocean Shores (Duck Lake Rd); Canvasbacks (2) at Ocean Shores and Hoquium STP; and a Golden Plover (sp) hanging out with 34 Killdeer and 4 Dunlin along Brady Loop Road. The full list(s) will be posted to ebird.

Good Luck and good birding
