[Tweeters] Oystercatcher rock

Hello, tweets.

Netta and I just had a great experience at Deception Pass State Park. At the end of the road to West Beach there is a big rock out in the water. It was covered with Glaucous-winged and hybrid gulls at high tide this morning (10 am), and among them were 15 Black Oystercatchers. The rock is very close, and the viewing and photo ops were wonderful with the sun at our backs.

Something spooked the birds, and most of them flew away, but a few minutes later they came over us in two flocks HIGH IN THE AIR, something I have never seen before. A few minutes later, they all returned to the rock!

Presumably they are only there around the high tides.
