Hi Tweets,

After several misses in the past couple of weeks, I was able to relocate the American White Pelican on the Tacoma tide flats. It has mostly been seen at Gog-le-hi-te Wetlands off of Lincoln Street in the southernmost pond. I relocated it at 4:15 pm, Nov.21st , just as the sun was setting, at a slough area of the Puyallup River on the west side of the Puyallup River. To access this area, head north from the Lincoln Ave Bridge on E Portland Ave until the end of the very long chain link fence. There is an access point that you can pull into and look over the dike into the slough. It is also worth driving a bit further north to the E 11 St bridge and looking up and down the Puyallup River for the gull flocks, that the pelican often hangs out with.

As a bonus this Friday morning at 10:15am, the American White Pelican flew over my car, where I-5 crosses over the Puyallup River - now that was a surprise. Looked like it was heading for the ponds at the Gog-le-hi-te Wetlands.

Good birding,
