Well, a bit tardy again, but some good reports. Turkey vultures are still heading north in mid-May, but many will be nesting soon in our coastal and Cascade foothills and perhaps places we don't even know about. The following are reports from Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia for April 2013:
01 – 1 at Pitt Meadows, B.C.
02 – 1 over Federal Way heading north
05 – 1 sailing over Kings Hill in Portland; 2 east of Arlington mixed in with a redtail and bald eagle; 1 over Larsen Lake; 5 near Brydon Lagoon, Langley, B.C.; 1 at North Vancouver, B.C.
06 – 1 at Colony Farm, Port Coquitlam, B.C.
07 – 6 at William L. Finley NWR, Oregon
11 – 4 circling over the LeMay Solid Waste facility, east Aberdeen
13 – 2 cruising northeast to southwest; 2 a mile west of Camas; 2 over Camas; 3 separate groups of 10-12 plus many singles between Hood River and Maryhill
14 – 10 near Steigerwald Lake NWR; 2 over Carnation; 2 near Darrington; 1 each at I-90 MP80 and 77.5; 1 near Montesano
15 – 2 singles over Pacific Beach; 1 soaring over Aberdeen; 1 flying close to the water at Johns River
18 – 1 over downtown Ocean Shores; 6 over Grass Creek north of Hoquiam
20 – 1 north of Ocean Shores; 2 at the city limits of North Bend/Snoqualmie
21 – 11 between Salmon la Sac/Roslyn (near Cle Elum Lake)
