A TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE was feeding on the road just 40 feet north of the chapel this morning, Saturday, from 7:15am to 8am. Every time a hiker would walk by and flush the bird, the solitaire eventually returned to the same spot to pick up the madrone tree's flowers that were scattered on the road. So, if the bird doesn't migrate overnight, it might be there tomorrow morning (or maybe this afternoon).

5 RED CROSSBILLS in a tall conifer just northeast of the solitaire location

100 yards north of the south parking lot at about 8:30am, an adult male BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK flew into a tree for a few seconds, and then disappeared

2-3 CASPIAN TERNS on the south beach, and 5 or more BONAPARTE'S GULLS flying north above the south beach
