While out birding in Sequim today, I ran into Seattle birder Jan Sleight in
the Jamestown/Sequim area. Jan said that she had found a very obliging
Black Phoebe yesterday, 03/23/2013, on the dike leading in to the Elwha
River mouth, west of Port Angeles. She did not have internet access so she
asked if I would post the sighting to Tweeters. I do not know for sure if
Black Phoebe would be a Clallam County record or not since it isn't on the
last checklist I have from "Washington Birder". Does anyone know for sure?
Jan was unable to get a photo. I visited the site today, 03/24/2013 and
could not relocate the bird. There were few passerines present when I was
there with the best bird being a gorgeous breeding-plumage male Audubon's
Yellow-rumped Warbler. I haven't seen a breeding male Audubon's for at
least 8 years or so when I saw one at Fort Jefferson on the Dry Tortugas in
Florida. They are extremely rare for Florida. My best birds of the day were
my FOY Rufous Hummingbird and the continuing White-throated Sparrow. Both
birds were coming to feeders at a residence on Wilcox Ln. in Jamestown
(Sequim). I finally got some decent photos of the latter bird. Go here:

Good birding.
