Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday March 21. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at
Both a COMMON EIDER and a YELLOW-BILLED LOON were reported from Coos Bay
during the week. They may now be gone. On March 19 what may have been the
Coos Bay COMMON EIDER was seen off Depoe Bay. On March 16 a male TUFTED DUCK
was on the Columbia River near Blue Lake east of Portland. The OVENBIRD was
again reported in northeast Portland March 18. The SNOWY OWLS continue at
the South Jetty of the Columbia River.
Flocks of YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS are now being reported along with a few
ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS. A movement of female RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS arrived
during the week. On March 14 a CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD was at a Bend feeder.
On March 17 a TOWNSEND¹S SOLITAIRE was in Scappoose Bottoms. The
CLAY-COLORED and HARRIS¹S SPARROWS continue along Rentenaar Road on Sauvie
Island. A SAY¹S PHOEBE was in Delta Park in North Portland March 20. A
MOUNTAIN CHICKADEE was seen March at a feeder in southeast Portland. A male
BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK was reported March 17 in Hillsboro. On March 17 a
flock of 15 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS was near Woodburn.
A male REDPOLL was photographed March 17 near Bend. That day two TRUMPETER
SWANS were in Crook County north of Hampton. A EURASIAN GREEN-WINGED TEAL
was at Ladd Marsh near LaGrande March 14. Near Bend the EURASIAN
GREEN-WINGED TEAL at Hatfield Lake continues to be seen.
