Hello, Tweeters,

The Olympic Bird Festival is coming up Friday - Sunday, Apr 5-7, sponsored by the Olympic Peninsula Audubon Society, Dungeness River Audubon Center, and Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe. The festival centers around a variety of field trips to the best birding spots between Sequim Bay and Salt Creek, plus bird photography and art workshops, a tour to an endangered waterfowl breeding sanctuary, a totem pole tour at the JST, boat trips by Protection Island, and culminates with a three-day birding/wildlife trip from Sequim to the San Juan Islands from Apr 7-9. The banquet on Saturday evening, Apr 6, has as its speaker award-winning author and National Geographic photographer Kevin Schafer, winner of the National Outdoor Book Award for his book Penguin Planet.

Check out the festival website at www.olympicbirdfest.org for schedules and registration. All proceeds from the festival help fund the education programs of the Dungeness River Audubon Center. A great way to celebrate the start of spring birding!
