Blair:

Sounds like a need just waiting to be filled by an experienced birder/photographer!

I was in Peru in November this year and took the Princeton Field Guides Series "Birds of Peru". All in all a very helpful resource but unlike the earlier comment, I was very disappointed in the illustrations. Granted it is a tough assignment but I found many (most?) of them far too dull and washed out...muted. Sometimes good enough for ID but often just barely so. Probably the best available (believe there is one other) but wish the illustrations were better.
