Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday December 19. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls
On December 28 a female PAINTED BUNTING was seen near the Eastside Boat Ramp
on Coos Bay. The Ankeny NWR YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER is still being seen. It
is now coming to a local residential bird feeder. The Hillsboro RUSTY
BLACKBIRD continues near the Hillsboro Library. On December 14 a MANX
SHEARWATER was off Cape Meares.
The BALD EAGLE evening roost near Tangent is active again this winter. There
were several reports of single OSPREY, Astoria, along the Alsea River near
Tidewater, and near Grande Ronde. PINE SISKINS and other finches are in low
numbers so far this winter.
On December 12 a female BULLOCK¹S ORIOLE visited a Toledo feeder. A flock of
11 TRUMPETER SWANS were seen December 14 on Tillamook Bay.
On December 16 a pair of EURASIAN WIGEON was photographed at Crystal
Springs Park in Southeast Portland. A BURROW OWL was seen December 14 along
Brandon Road in Linn County.
Four GREAT-TAILED GRACKLES were found on the December 14 Klamath Falls
Christmas Count. On December 13 a RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER was at a sapwell in
