This morning I spent an three hours sitting on my deck watching a steady flow of birds in our woods on Mt. Pleasant, Skamania County. At any one time there were anywhere from a half a dozen to two dozens birds in the trees and plantings along our driveway. I had TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS, BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLERS, and YELLOW WARBLERS sprinkled into the flocks of ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS. The only vireo specie that I saw was WARBLING VIREO and they too were numerous. Flocks of CEDAR WAXWINGS and EVENING GROSBEAKS were in the Mountain Ash and Bitter Cherry trees. Lesser numbered migrants included WESTERN TANAGER, BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK, OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER, and PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHERS. I love this time of the year when south bound migrants sit down on the ridge we live on, to feed and rest, before crossing the Columbia River Gorge Wilson Cady
