Hello, this the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday August 15. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

Small numbers of ELEGANT TERNS are now scattered along the Oregon coast. On
August 13 seven were at the Hammond Boat Basin.

On August 7 two RUDDY TURNSTONES were at New River and two were on the North
Spit of Coos Bay. A BLACK SWIFT was seen August 12 in the Lane County Coast
Range near Swisshome. An adult FRANKLIN¹S GULL was at Yaquina Bay August 10.

On August 9 an immature WHITE-THROATED SPARROW was along Rentenaar Road on
Sauvie Island. On August 11 a SOLITARY SANDPIPER was at the Vanport Wetlands
in North Portland. Up to 49 WHITE PELICANS were seen during the week at the
Fernhill Wetlands in Forest Grove. Four BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS and four
RED-NECKED PHALAROPES were also there.

On August 11 seven BLACK-NECKED STILTS and two SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS and
two YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS were at Baskett Slough NWR. Also on August 11 a
WILLET, ten WHITE PELICANS, and four RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS were at Finley
NWR. Three adult PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVERS, four SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, and
two SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS were at Fern Ridge Reservoir during the week.

On August 8 two RED-NECKED PHALAROPES were in Santiam Pass at Suttle Lake.
On August 11 several GRAY-CROWNED ROSY-FINCHES were feeding young on Mt.
Bachelor near Bend.
