My husband and I walked in to the Ancient Lake from the Quincy Wildlife Recreation Area today. Almost no wind and sunny skies were a treat while we walked in to the potholes. Quite a few Rock Wrens singing from the basalt cliffs surrounding us. Tons of White-crowned Sparrows were seen and heard as well. A couple of Turkey's walked the road with us for awhile and several Chukar's flushed ahead of us as we began our walk. California Quail, Ring-necked Pheasant, and Turkey Vulture's were also seen along the way. On our way back from the 'lakes' we saw two Caspian Tern's diving and heard them calling as well. My FOY. We also had several Swallow species swirling around us as we got closer to the water.
Very easy walk to the lakes which apparantely have filled with irrigation water that has seeped from the farms above.
