This morning I birded around Discovery Park starting early along
the beach areas before the Saturday crowds descended on the area. At
the point near the lighthouse I observed three MARBLED MURRELETS in
breeding plumage (nice looks), and a single RHINOCEROS AUKLET... Also,
there were quite a few HORNED GREBES, three COMMON LOONS and a few
PELAGIC CORMORANTS again all in breeding plumage... I met Joe Sweeney
while birding in the area and he had a couple of BONAPARTE'S GULLS in
a mixed gull flock along the north beach.
Yellow-rumped and Orange-crowned Warblers were numerous at
different locations throughout the park. Around the parks visitor
center I had WARBLING VIREO & BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER, and noticed
that BROWN-HEADED COWBIRDS were back.

Cheers and Good Birding;
