Dear Tweeters,

Today (4 April 2013) I was able to view an impressive flock of geese just north of Burns, Oregon. I don't think I'd ever seen so many species and morphs in one small area, other than in a zoo. I viewed the birds from a truck weigh station, and from one other spot just to the north.

Ross's Goose, several thousand.

Dark morph Ross's Goose, one.

Snow Goose, several dozen.

"Blue Goose" morph of Snow Goose, one, stomping around and making Ross's Geese look tiny.

Greater White-fronted Goose, several hundred.

Cackling Goose, one lonely individual.

Canada Goose, a few dozen at most.

All that sort of made up for my having gotten a flat tire at Malheur the evening before.

Yours truly,
 Gary Bletsch
