We invite you to join a mini-workshop on *advancing experimental rock
deformation technical capabilities to address subduction zone hazards*.
This 2 hour workshop will be held *Tuesday June 14 at 9AM PT/12PM ET*.

Progress answering the SZ4D driving science questions on subduction zone
hazards will require advancements in experimental rock deformation
technical capabilities. The need for technical advances is included in the SZ4D
draft implementation plan <https://www.sz4d.org/projects-3>. To help guide
the next steps of SZ4D, we are hosting a mini-workshop for the community to
provide input on the greatest technical needs. We hope to receive input
from all disciplines that collect or use experimental data in their
subduction-related research.

An ad hoc committee of experimentalists will work to develop a technical
plan based on this input over the summer. If you are interested in serving
on this ad hoc committee (early career experimentalists are particularly
encouraged), please reach out to Melodie French (mefrench at rice.edu).
