and apply quantitative, analytical, and communication skills beyond the boundaries of their primary academic focus. ACORN projects typically involve a time commitment of about 3 hours per week over the course of a year for each graduate student or postdoc
volunteer. Prior experience related to the topic of each ACORN project is a plus, but is not required. Visit our

Climate Action Coalition</a></span><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"> strives to bring climate awareness to Seattle’s annual Seafair celebration. The coalition currently includes Veterans For Peace-Daniel Ellsburg
chapter, Xtinction Rebellion, and South Seattle Climate Action Network. The Seafair celebration includes a military airshow by the US Navy’s Blue Angels that contributes to growing carbon emissions, air pollution, and noise pollution that can pose health risks
to local residents. </span></p>

<span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">This project will contribute to an understanding of the climate and health impacts of the Seafair air show. Directions may involve researching and summarizing the emissions
and pollution profile of airshows using manufacturing specs, federal agency data, and other related peer-reviewed literature. Students may also investigate evidence-based strategies that could increase public and community organizational awareness. The summarized
findings will be used by the Seafair Climate Action Coalition in its outreach and in communication with decision-makers and the public. </span></p>
