Dear Colleagues,
Happy New Year. We are writing to share an upcoming Graduate Research
Assistant (GRA) opportunity with our Hub Broader Impacts Team Four for the
2026–2027 academic year. We are particularly interested in hearing from
graduate students who may already be engaged in the Hub but who are also
familiar with, our research group and its mission. Students not involved
directly with the Hub can still apply.
This position supports the development, instruction, and mentoring of the
fourth and fifth cohorts of undergraduate students participating in our
multi-institutional project. This is approximately 30 undergraduates,
including students from Oregon State University, the University of
Washington, Cal Poly Humboldt, and the University of Oregon. The Graduate
Research Assistant will play a central role in coordinating undergraduate
research activities, supporting faculty mentors, and advancing the broader
impacts goals of the project. The selected candidate will work closely with
our current team as we transition from our outgoing GA.
*Minimum Qualifications and Preferred Experience*

- Demonstrated ability to organize resources, establish priorities, and
manage multiple responsibilities
- Experience establishing and maintaining effective working
relationships with diverse undergraduate students
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Academic and/or professional experience related to HUB research
- Experience with relevant software and datasets, including Excel, MS
Word, SPSS, NVivo, GIS, Google Docs, and Box
- Experience actively mentoring undergraduate students across multiple
campuses in the Pacific Northwest
- Experience supervising undergraduate researchers, including tracking
assignment completion and serving as a liaison between students and faculty
researchers

*Terms and Conditions*
This is a Graduate Research Assistant position at 19 hours per week (.49
FTE) for the 2026–2027 academic year. The appointment includes full tuition
remission. The GRA must be available to work in blocks of at least four
hours during regular business hours (8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Monday through
Friday), including summer term. Occasional travel and some weekend work may
be required.
We welcome nominations and encourage interested graduate students to apply
directly to one of us. Please feel free to share this opportunity with
qualified candidates who may be a good fit for the team.
Sincerely,
Dwaine, José, Lisa and Dan
