Message-ID: The PCC announces 3 new funding opportunities for climate science advancement, available to a wide range of the PCC community: The Climate Science Research Acceleration Fund, PCC Climate Solutions Projects, and The Graubard Fellowship in the Program on Climate Change. These funding opportunities are meant to help students, researchers, and faculty conduct climate science research, apply their findings, and enhance expertise inside and outside of academia. Each is briefly described below with detail in the attached documents. Many thanks to Bill Calvin and Katherine Graubard for their generous support of the Program on Climate Change. 1.The Program on Climate Change (PCC) announces a new graduate fellowship opportunity to begin in winter quarter 2023. *The Graubard Fellowship in the Program on Climate Change*, funded by Katherine Graubard and William Calvin, will support at least three students working on climate science research broadly defined towards a Ph.D. degree. Proposals for 3-12 months of support (0.5 FTE) will be considered. APPLICATION DEADLINE: November 1, 2022. (see attached for details) 2. *Climate Science Research Acceleration Fund.* The Program on Climate Change (PCC) is requesting proposal submissions from faculty and research scientists for climate-related research projects that accelerate climate research at the UW. Funding can be used (e.g.) ? for startup research projects aimed at leveraging research grants ? for side-projects or interesting new directions resulting from projects currently funded by external sources ? to fund lecturer visits by prominent scientists of broad interest to the UW climate community? to fund mini conferences on an interdisciplinary topic. (see attached for deadlines and details) 3. The PCC is accepting proposals from graduate students for ?*PCC* *Climate Solutions Projects*? that help them gain experience outside academia while applying their climate-science knowledge to solutions-based projects, capstone programs, and outreach efforts with community organizations and partners. Feel free to email me if you have questions. Best, Ursula ------ What is P-GraSC? The PCC Graduate Student Steering Committee (P-GraSC) is a group of ~20 grad students from a diverse group of departments (if you?re interested in climate research, policy, and conversation, you count as a PCC grad student). The mission of P-GraSC is to form a coherent and organized graduate student steering body in the PCC. P-GraSC is committed to representing the values of the graduate students in the PCC, including amplifying the work and voices of BIPOC members of the PCC. Why join P-GraSC? P-GraSC is an awesome opportunity to get to know graduate students from departments across the College of the Environment and beyond. Through P-GraSC, you will get a deeper understanding of the breadth and excellence of UW research in climate science, policy, engineering, public health, and more. You learn to organize events and speak with the public and broader university on issues related to climate change. Overall, you serve as a face for the graduate students of the PCC. What is the commitment level? We are currently seeking nominations for yourself or others to begin a 2-year position on P-GraSC starting this fall. If you have less than 2 years left and want to get involved, 1-year placements are perfectly fine ? go ahead and nominate yourself! P-GraSC meets once per quarter and sub-committees meet once per month on average. You can do as much or as little work as you?d like: this year, P-GraSC activities included project-based collaboration with community organizations through ACORN Projects, Graduate Student Seminars, and the Spring Seminar Series.
