Upon
hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with our team of scientists,
resource managers, planners, and policy leaders in helping shape
Washington’s planning framework for addressing climate impacts. The
Washington State Legislature has tasked Ecology with coordinating with the
Department of Commerce and other state agencies and tribal governments to
develop a model framework for developing and implementing climate change
resiliency and adaptation into local Comprehensive Plans and Shoreline
Master Programs and policies. Ecology has a lead role on sea level rise,
flooding, and erosion. In this role, you will help Ecology accomplish this
work and will play a primary role in supporting the agency’s climate change
resilience efforts.

*What you will do:*

· Serve as an associate level planner on a range of policy
initiatives related to climate change resilience and adaptation strategies,
coordinating and serving as liaison with Ecology policy leads, other state
agencies, tribal governments, and local jurisdictions.

· Provide expertise and technical assistance to Ecology staff and
other state agencies for climate change resilience and adaptation to sea
level rise, flooding, and erosion.

· Develop Ecology’s internal and external policy implementation and
procedural guidance, training, and resources for addressing climate
resilience in local government plans.

· Translate scientific information into pragmatic policy options.

· Develop planning processes, local government and stakeholder
involvement strategies, and policy options for climate change resilience
and adaptation.

· Participate in and coordinate program input and feedback in
collaborative multi-agency or multi-stakeholder workgroups convened to
address climate resilience and adaptation.

· Support Ecology’s internal and external program communications on
climate change resilience and adaptation, including updates to the agency’s
sea level rise communications strategy.

· Serve in an advisory role on local sea level rise and climate
resilience projects funded through Ecology’s Shoreline Master Program (SMP)
Competitive Grant Program.
