Cathy L. Whitlock

a Regents Professor at Montana State University and is an elected member of
the US National Academy of Sciences. She is an eminent paleo-ecologist who
has pioneered groundbreaking studies that produced much of our current
understanding of vegetation and disturbance history in the western US and
how that relates to ecological resilience over long time scales. She is
also an alum of UW (PhD, 1983) where she was advised by Estella Leopold.
