We are currently accepting applications for a Teaching Assistant position
in Spring Quarter 2018 - please forward to your graduate students:


*The School of Aquatic and Fishery Sciences (SAFS) is hiring a Teaching
Assistant for duties in Spring Quarter 2018 - note we are trying to fill
this position ASAP so the deadline is not far away:*

*Course: *FISH 475 Marine Mammalogy

*Instructors*: Amy Kennedy

*Dates: *March 16, 2018 – June 15, 2018

*Compensation*: Position is 50% FTE; salary is commensurate with academic
standing

*Deadline to Apply: *Sunday March 11. Priority consideration given to
applications received by this date. Applications will be accepted after
this date if the position remains unfilled

*COURSE DESCRIPTION:*
Evolution, taxonomy, physiology, life history, and behavior of marine
mammals; the techniques of studying and the management and conservation of
them.


*POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:*The appointee will serve as the TA in FISH 475.
Duties will include:

The TA will be responsible for approximately 20hrs of work per week related
to the course. The primary duties of the TA will be: attending course
lectures, leading laboratory sessions including field trips during
regularly-scheduled labs and on weekends, and grading papers in
collaboration with the course instructor. There will be additional
course-specific duties required by the instructor, which may include
helping managing electronic resources, meeting with students, and creating
formally or informally a positive learning environment for students.

*POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:*

- Academic standing as a UW Graduate Student and eligibility to hold a
Graduate Student Assistantship.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Availability for full course (lecture + lab)
- Experience using Canvas to access course materials
- Current valid drivers license
- Current certification in First Aid, CPR (or must have by start of
course, if hired)
- Desired but not required: Previous teaching experience
