The Department of Biology & Microbiology at South Dakota State University
invites applications for a

postdoctoral research associate in biology education and research. Our
research group is situated at the

intersection of research in STEM higher education, cognitive psychology, and
computer modeling, and

focuses on 1) how undergraduates develop expertise in biological concepts,
including the roles of curriculum

and classroom environments on this progression, and 2) the role of
scientific practices such as modeling and

argumentation in facilitating students' conceptual mastery. The successful
candidate will develop a vibrant

research agenda around education research in undergraduate biology. In
addition, the postdoc will develop

and deliver student-centered, practice- and concept-driven curriculum in
large-enrollment introductory

college biology courses.

and to handle a variety of demands

simultaneously are critical. Applicants must be self-motivated, creative
individuals who have excellent
