10:15 Coffee/tea/snacks
10:30-11:30 Seminar by Dr. Evans and Dr. Allen *“On the Tail of the Tuna
and the Road of the Winds: Past and Future Human-Climate Interactions in
Tropical Polynesia”*
11:30-1:30 Structured Discussion to address applying paleoclimate data to
archaeological situations (at 12:30 buffet lunch - vegan pasta salad - will
be available)

In the tropics paleoclimate records are discontinuous and sparse.
Furthermore, they are developed from diverse archives with a wide range of
specialized methods. This presents a challenge when applying paleoclimate
data to archaeological situations and trying to interpret evidence of human
migration and settlement. To address this challenge and support
interdisciplinary efforts between archaeologists and paleoenvironmental
specialists, Dr. Evans and Dr. Allen will present their scientific work on
tropical Pacific paleoclimate and human settlements and migrations during
the Holocene. This will be followed by a group discussion. Drs. Evans and
Allen will be at UW May 11-13, 2016. To request individual or group
meetings please contact Ashley Maloney at ashjames at uw.edu.

Thank you,

Ashley Maloney, Julian Sachs, Peter Lape
