Hello PCC grads, old and new!

This coming *Tuesday, October 6* we will kick off the PCC's fall quarter
Graduate Student Seminar (GSS) with a *happy hour at 5pm at the College Inn*.
Come meet new people and catch up with old friends to celebrate the
beginning of a new academic year!

This will be the first installment of the fall quarter GSS, which will
continue every other Tuesday at 5pm in OSB 425. Future installments will
feature four great speakers (as well as friends and *be*v*er*ages):

Oct. 20 - Marie Eide
Nov. 3 - Marysa Lague
Nov. 17 - Ana Ordóñez
Dec. 1 - Judy Twedt

Mark your calendars!

Also, thank you to everyone who filled out the GSS survey and provided us
with feedback. We have moved the GSS for this quarter to Tuesdays
to accommodate some departmental seminar schedule changes, and put the GSS
right after the fall quarter PCC seminar on Tuesday afternoons. If you have
further feedback, suggestions, ideas, etc. please feel free to share with
any of us!

Hilary, Brad and Greg

*What is the GSS, you ask?*
The PCC Graduate Student Seminar (GSS) is organized by graduate students
for graduate students. The series provides an extremely laid back
environment where grad students give 25-35 min presentations on their
research followed by a 20 minutes of questions/discussion on the topic.
It's a great opportunity to see what is going on in climate research with
your fellow students down the hall or across campus. Plus, it you are
interested in presenting, it's a great chance to show off some of your own
research and receive feedback on your work. Presentations should be geared
toward a general scientific audience (of graduate students) with ample
background information so everyone can follow. As always, *be*v*er*ages
will be provided for a minimal donation.
