The 2015 PCC Summer Institute/Friday Harbor Labs Symposium on
"Understanding, measuring, and modeling interactions between terrestrial
ecosystems, land surface processes, and climate" is available for
registration!



Sunday, Sept. 20 to Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015.

Friday Harbor Labs, San Juan Island.

given to those at UW engaged in climate science activities, graduate
students of speakers, and those that register first. Don't wait until Sept
to register; last year we were unable to accommodate all that were
interested and we generally fill before August. You should get an automated
response acknowledging registration and we'll contact you with additional
details in August, confirming your spot. Don't hesitate to contact the PCC
office if you have questions (uwpcc at uw.edu).



General Schedule: Ferry arrival by 1 pm on Sept. 20, lunch on your own,
pick up meeting/housing information in the dining hall at FHL by 3pm,
reception/poster session begins at 4pm. Monday afternoon free to explore the
island and informal discussions. Departure from FHL after lunch on Tuesday.

Opening reception and poster session (Sunday Sept. 20 4-6 pm): Posters that
focus on the SI topic or other PCC related interests are welcome from all
participants. Discuss your project over light refreshments in the FHL
Dining Hall and deck.



Quick Talks: These 5 minute talks scheduled during the regular meeting
should use fewer than 3 slides, preferably 1! Send us a title if you'd like
to participate.



Costs:

Food and Housing costs are covered by the PCC. Bring money for souvenirs,
chocolate and beer.



Carpools:

Ride in one of the reserved vans, and your carpool costs are covered. For
other carpools, we will reimburse for cost of the ferry for those that use
our letter to get the educational discount (drivers should request letter
from the PCC office, uwpcc at uw.edu). Vans depart from a location on or near
UW-Seattle campus as designated by volunteer driver (please volunteer!)
early on Sunday morning to return around 6 pm on Tuesday.

Graduate Students and Postdocs:

Students should participate in paper discussions designed to enrich your SI
experience by providing you with foundational knowledge. Discussion
sessions are held on campus in the weeks prior to the SI, and led by Abby
Swann, this years' summer institute science director. Details will be
posted to the event page and sent to registered graduate students and
postdocs.
