The IGERT Winter Seminar Series will continue on February 10, 2015 with
speaker Nancy Knowlton.

Dr. Knowlton holds the Sant Chair in Marine Science at the Smithsonian’s
National Museum of Natural History in Washington, DC. Her research is
centered on the diversity and conservation of life in the ocean. She is
currently the Editor-in-Chief of the Ocean Portal, and is senior scientist
emeritus at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in Panama. Dr.
Knowlton was the founding director of the Center for Marine Biodiversity
and Conservation at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. She serves on
the national board of the Coral Reef Alliance, is a winner of the Peter
Benchley Prize and the Heinz Award, and was elected to the American Academy
of Arts and Sciences and the U.S. National Academy of Sciences in 2013. She
is the author of the National Geographic special publication 'Citizens of
the Sea'.

Please join us for Nancy Knowlton's talk, entitled "Moving Beyond the
Obituaries - Success Stories in Ocean Conservation", from 4:30 - 5:30,
Tuesday, February 10, 2015, in Fisheries 102. A reception with food and
beverages will follow.
