Hi everyone,

My apologies to those of you not going to AGU or those uninterested in
communicating climate science. To the rest of you, the following workshop
may be of interest.

Hi everyone,

UCS is working with AGU on a communications workshop
<http://fallmeeting.agu.org/2014/communicating-climate-science-workshop/>
for climate researchers on Sunday, December 14 from 8AM to 12:30PM. In
previous years, these workshops have been open to all AGU members and
filled up quickly. This year, we are screening applicants instead. Please
see a description of the workshop below. If you could share this with
scientists with whom you’ve worked who are likely to be at AGU or have
students going to AGU, I’d greatly appreciate it.

The workshop will provide an overview of the latest social science on
climate communication and participants will have the opportunity to develop
and hone message about their research and practice doing mock interviews.
These workshops are among the most well-received at AGU. Applications are
open and are due by Friday, October 31. This is an excellent opportunity
for seasoned communicators as well as early-career scientists who are
working on topics likely to garner public attention. Aaron Huertas, a
science communications officer at UCS, and John Cook, who runs
SkepticalScience.com, will be speaking and several AGU staffers as well as
long-time climate communicators will be leading breakout sessions.
Applications are open:

If you have any questions, you can contact me or my colleague, Aaron
Huertas at ahuertas at ucsusa.org.

Thanks!
