Please join us for the fall Program on Climate Change Seminar

“The Road to COP 21”

Tuesdays 3:30 PAA A 102

Over the last year, the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) fifth assessment reports were released. The results confirmed the urgency with which the international community needs to address both the causes and consequences of climate change. The role of the IPCC is to inform the negotiations under the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change). The next meeting of the UNFCCC will take place in Lima, Peru December 1-12. This seminar will focus on political and science issues associated with the negotiations and will lead the student towards a more complete and nuanced understanding of the negotiation process as well as recent results in climate science that will inform the negotiations.

If you are a graduate student, register for OCEAN/ATM S/ESS 586. There will be required readings each week that will inform the discussion with the speaker after their seminar. 2 credits (ungraded)

Undergraduates can take OCEAN/ATM S/ESS 475 3 credits (graded) and will meet also on thursdays 3:30-5.
