OCEAN/ATM S/ESS 475/586: Current Research in Climate Change

The Road to COP 21

LuAnne Thompson (Oceanography) and Kris Ebi (Global Health)

Over the last year, the most recent IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) report was released. The results confirmed the urgency with which the international community needs to address both the causes and consequences of climate change. The next negotiations of the UNFCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) will take place in Lima, Peru December 1-12, the 21st session of the Conference of the Parties. This seminar will focus on both political and science issues associated with the next round of negotiations and will lead the student towards a more complete understanding of both the negotiation process as well as recent results in climate science that will inform the negotiations.

There will be required readings each week that will inform the discussion with the speaker after their seminar.

Tuesdays 3:30-4:50 PAA A 102
