Know Your Rights: Reproductive Health Care
Reproductive health care, including access to birth control and safe and legal abortion care, is an essential part of your health and well-being. While Roe v. Wade was overturned, abortion remains legal in many states, and other reproductive health care services remain protected by law. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is committed to providing you with accurate and up-to-date information about access to and coverage of reproductive health care and resources. Learn more about your reproductive rights, including resources, on the HHS website<https://www.hhs.gov/about/news/2022/06/25/know-your-rights-reproductive-health-care.html>. Special Report: Raising Awareness of Hate Crimes and Hate Incidents During the COVID-19 Pandemic
The Department of Justice and HHS have issued a new guidance report<https://www.justice.gov/hatecrimes/addressing-hate-crimes-against-AAPI> that provides an overview of the rise of hate crimes and hate incidents during the COVID-19 pandemic, including a surge of hate crimes and incidents against Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities. The report offers steps that healthcare providers, clinics, health systems, law enforcement, government officials, and others can take to raise awareness of increased hate crimes and incidents and use this heightened awareness as a tool for the prevention of and response to hate crimes.
Let's Stop HIV Together LGBTQ+ Resource: Pride-In-A-Box
The CDC Let's Stop HIV Together campaign has developed Pride-In-A-Box<https://www.cdc.gov/stophivtogether/partnerships/pride-in-a-box.html>, a guide that contains information and resources to help community-based organizations, AIDS service organizations, local health departments, digital influencers, and other stakeholders work together to plan Pride month activities and raise awareness about HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and stigma. The guide offers tips, sample social media posts, and graphics for day-of, virtual, and post-Pride activities.
Dementia & Firearm Safety Resources
Certain conditions, prevalent among older adults, including early cognitive changes associated with Alzheimer's Disease and Alzheimer's Disease-Related Dementias (AD/ADRD), place them at high-risk for firearm suicide. Firearms are the most common and deadly mechanism used for suicide among older adults. The Harborview Injury Prevention & Research Center (HIPRC) has created a new online resource<https://hiprc.org/dementia-firearm-safety/> to help older adults with cognitive impairment draw up a plan for safekeeping of firearms.
