New On-Demand series of classes!
"CHIS On Demand" classes are for library staff interested in providing consumer health information to their community. Registration is open to anyone interested in consumer health information and outreach. You can earn up to 5 Medical Library Association (MLA) continuing education credit hours towards the Level 1 Consumer Health Information Specialization (CHIS) from the Medical Library Association<https://www.mlanet.org/p/cm/ld/fid=329> through this class. Five separate modules cover content related to the 5 Level 1 CHIS competencies:

1. Know the Community
2. Know the Health Consumer
3. Knowledge of Subject Matter and Resources
4. Evaluation of Health Information
5. Communication, Reference, and Instruction
Modules can be completed in any order. You can take 1 module or all of them. Each is designed to take 1 hour to complete. Once you finish the module, a link appears, allowing you to claim 1 hour of CE credit for the module.

State Approaches to Community Health Worker Certification
A growing number of states are developing or considering a certification program for community health workers (CHWs). The public health community has widely endorsed working directly with CHWs and associations to ensure certification policies are responsive to the needs of the workforce.
