Hello Math Majors,

Below you will find important and helpful information about graduating
senior priority and spring quarter course offerings.

Autumn quarter Graduating Senior Priority(GSP) registration begins
Friday, May 6. If you have not yet applied for graduation, and plan
to graduate this coming summer, autumn or winter quarter, visit
*math.washington.edu/graduation-commencement-information
<http://math.washington.edu/graduation-commencement-information>*. To
have GSP for autumn quarter, eligible students must email their
graduation application request to our office *no later than 4pm,
Monday, May 2, 2022*.


*IMPORTANT REGISTRATION INFORMATION *

*BS Math option and BA Math - Philosophy option majors:* MATH 328 is
no longer being offered; majors should take MATH 424 - Fund. Concepts
of Analysis in its place.

*MATH 327 – Intro to Real Analysis* is recommended for students who
plan to take advanced math courses; prerequisite: MATH 300 with a 2.0
or higher grade.

*MATH 381 - Discrete Mathematical Modeling *

Period I ACMS majors only; Seniors, Juniors only
Period II & III MATH & ACMS majors only; Seniors, Juniors only

*MATH 407* - Linear Optimization:* Enrollment will be split between
Math and ACMS majors, and will likely fill with graduating seniors.
All sections will be open to both MATH and ACMS majors on MAY 18 at
9am.

Math 407 A - MATH majors only period 1
Math 407 B - ACMS majors only period 1
Math 407 C - ACMS majors only period 1
Math 407 D - MATH majors only period 1

*MATH 407 will only be open to seniors during registration period II & III.

*MATH 408/409 – Nonlinear/Discrete Optimization:* Courses will be
offered winter and spring quarter, respectively

MATH 408 will only be offered winter quarter; prerequisite: minimum
grade of 2.0 in MATH 407 or MATH 464, *and* MATH 327 or MATH 334 MATH
409 will only be offered spring quarter; prerequisite: minimum grade
of 2.0 in MATH 407, and MATH 300 or MATH 334

*MATH 464/465 -Numerical Analysis: *this sequence is offered every other
year and we anticipate offering Math 465 in winter. The prerequisite for
this course is a minimum grade of 2.0 in Math 464.

*MATH 480 - Special Topics: Representative Theory of the Symmetric Group*

Please note we are trying to get the course time changed, so are unable to
register students until the course is updated. For course description,
