<p class="MsoNormal">year. We at Capillaries: The Journal of Medical Humanities believe that<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">writing and art have real power now more than ever, to help us unpack our<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">thoughts. Thus, we offer our journal to you as a space to decompress and<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">reflect on personal, community, national, and global issues.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Capillaries is a student-run project at the University of Washington. Since<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">February 2018, our mission has been to provide the UW community (students,<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">staff, and faculty) with the opportunity to reflect on experiences with<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">medicine, healing, illness, and/or grief through prose, poetry, and<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">artwork. Furthermore, Capillaries aims to support students and the<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">community in their healthcare journeys and to promote greater understanding<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">between the sciences and the humanities.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">In past publications, we shared stories of love and loss, of mental health<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">and disordered eating, of coming to terms with one's identity, and of<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">understanding what it means to be a global citizen in the 21st century.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">For our Winter 2023 issue, feel free to write and create art about any<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">experience or topic you feel comfortable sharing ?we simply hope that this<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">journal brings you some solace and space for meditation.<o:p></o:p></p>
