Call for Nominations
Editor-In-Chief ACM Digital Government: Research and Practice

The term of the current Editors-in-Chief (EiCs) of ACM Digital Government: Research and Practice (DGOV) is coming to an end, and the ACM Publications Board has set up a nominating committee to assist the Board in selecting new EiC leadership. DGOV is an interdisciplinary Gold Open Access journal that focuses on the potential and impact of technology on governance innovations and its transformation of public institutions. It promotes applied and empirical research from academics, practitioners, designers, and technologists, using political, policy, social, computer, and data sciences methods. The major areas of DGOV include the new forms of governance and citizen roles in the interconnected digital environment, as well as the governance, use and impact of new technologies, including automation, sensor devices, robot behavior, artificial intelligence, and big data. It covers computational, technical, social scientific, behavioral, analytical, theoretical, and integrative approaches. Established in 2020, the journal publishes on a quarterly basis.

Nominations, including self-nominations, as DGOV EiCs are invited for a three-year term beginning on August 1, 2024. As the previous EiC role was handled by two co-EiCs working in a partnership, we also welcome joint nominations, including joint self-nominations, for co-EiCs. This is a voluntary position, but ACM will provide appropriate administrative support. The EiC or co-EiC appointments may be renewed at most once.

Appointed by the ACM Publications Board, EiCs of DGOV are delegated full responsibility for the journal’s editorial management consistent with the DGOV charter and general ACM policies. The Board relies on EiCs to ensure that the journal’s content is of high quality and that the editorial review process is both timely and fair. EiCs have the final say on the acceptance of papers, the Editorial Board size, and the Associate Editors' appointments. See the ACM Volunteer Editors Position Description for a complete list of responsibilities. Self-nominations are encouraged and should include a CV and a statement of the candidate's vision for the future development of DGOV.

The deadline for submitting nominations is June 17, 2024, although nominations will continue to be accepted until the position is filled. Please send all nominations to the search committee chair, Andrea Kavanaugh (kavan at vt.edu).

The search committee members are:
* Andrea Kavanaugh (Virginia Tech, USA), Chair
* Yu-Che Chen (University of Nebraska, Omaha, USA)
* David Eaves (University College London, UK)
* Teresa Harrison (University at Albany, SUNY, USA)
* Tomasz Janowski (Gdańsk University of Technology, Poland and University for Continuing Education, Krems, Austria)
The ACM Publications Board Liaison is Adelinde Uhrmacher (University of Rostock, Germany)
