Participants anonymously rated their own employers on the organization's approach to equity, diversity and inclusion with respect to age, gender, ethnicity, disability and sexual orientation. They could also rate companies they knew through acquaintances or industry. Higher weight in the grading system was given to responses from employees themselves and from respondents who self-identified as being part of an underrepresented group. Analysts also assessed companies on their equity, diversity and inclusion practices to round out the score. See the full list from Forbes and learn more about healthcare equity at UW Medicine. [cid:image019.jpg@01DAB36F.EFE00A30]Foam mixed with medications is already used to treat conditions such as varicose veins, hemorrhoids, wounds on the skin and even hair loss. In a recent study published in Nature Communications, Dr. Matthias Stephan, associate professor (Hematology and Oncology) and colleagues found that foam might also be used as a vehicle to deliver expensive gene therapies. ?Gene therapies are the new wave of medicine, but they are extremely expensive and difficult to make,? said Stephan. ?Our gene therapy foam shows for the first time that by taking a small amount of an expensive gene therapy drug, increasing its volume by embedding it in a solution that is mostly made of densely packed air bubbles and then applying it to cells, we can achieve a strong and safe transfer of gene therapy agents to cells.?
