Message-ID: Dear ACMS Majors, To celebrate the start of the Autumn Quarter, and welcome new students to campus, the Math Library, in collaboration with the Association for Women in Mathematics, is hosting a Games Day on Tuesday, September 23rd from 2-5pm! All students are welcome to come, share some laughs, and explore some of the games on our "Math Games Shelf". Bring a friend or come alone to meet other mathematicians and play games together. The Association for Women in Mathematics, Student Chapter at UW (AWM-UW) is a student group supporting women and all underrepresented students within the mathematical sciences. We host a combination of professional development and social events throughout the school year and encourage all undergraduate and graduate students interested in our mission to attend. We'd love to meet you during Dawg Daze! This year, we will host informal weekly lunch meetings to get to know each other and build community (Fridays 11:30-12:30 in PDL C-401). Also, we are holding an information session about the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program from 1:30pm-2:30pm on September 26 in CMU 228. Come learn about this fellowship and the application process from current UW graduate students who have received it! For more details about these events or any of the other exciting things we have planned for the year, check out our website: https://awm-uw.weebly.com/. There, you can also find links to join our listserv and Discord server to stay in touch. The Math Library is located on the 3rd floor of Padelford's C wing, in C-306, directly across from the elevators. Hours for Autumn Quarter are 10am-5pm, Monday through Friday. In addition to its print collection, the library has individual study carrels, group study tables, whiteboards, chalkboards, a Dawg Prints station, and a games shelf! All are always welcome, and we especially hope you come join us to play some games on September 23rd. Message-ID: Hi everyone Welcome to fall quarter! Hope you all had a nice break and are looking forward to being back. I wanted to give you a couple of updates. 1. We have been working behind the scenes with the Allen School this summer to allow ACMS students access to their career board which is an excellent resource for career development events and activities. You can find the link here. All students who are currently declared as ACMS majors should have access. If you have questions or difficulties logging on, please email advising@math.washington.edu. *Please do not email CSE staff.* 2. I have been working on identifying speakers for a career/networking series which we will launch this year. If you know of alumni (MATH, STAT, AMATH or ACMS) in the local area who are working on interesting things, please feel free to shoot me an email and let me know. All the best.
