Applications will be open until Friday, March 21 at 11:59 pm PT, and acceptances will be announced by April 4 at the latest. To learn more about upcoming reading projects and apply, go to sites.uw.edu/wdrp/applications. We encourage applications from students of all mathematical / personal backgrounds and identities, and we have projects for students with various levels of experience - the main requirement is for participants to be excited about mathematics. The main components of the program are: * Start-of-quarter kickoff event, including an introduction to the program and time to mingle with other undergraduate and graduate students. * One-on-one weekly meetings between undergraduate student mentees and graduate student mentors, to discuss the readings. * Mid-quarter event with undergraduate students only, to connect with students working on other projects. * WDRP seminars featuring math talks by graduate mentors, informal Q&A and mingling sessions. * End-of-quarter presentations by undergraduate students on topics selected from their readings. In addition, 2 credits (CR/NC) for Math 398 are available to undergraduate students participating in and successfully completing the program. Note that you will not be able to sign up for this credit until after you have applied for and been accepted into the program, at which time we will provide further information about enrolling. The application deadline is May 21, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. EDT. Through SULI and CCI, undergraduate students and recent graduates discover science and technology careers at the DOE national laboratories and gain new knowledge, skills, and experience to further their educational and career goals. Interns work directly with national laboratory scientists, engineers, and technical professionals, assisting them on research or technical projects that support the DOE mission. SULI is open to full-time students attending either 2-or 4-year colleges and universities or recent graduates within two years of receiving their bachelor's degree or associate degree, while CCI is exclusively for community college students.
