STAT 498:Agile Data Science Message-ID: Hello Math & ACMS Majors, The Department of Statistics has asked our office to share a winter 2025 STAT special topics course with our majors. To learn more about the course, see the attached course syllabus and information below. IMPORTANT ADVISNG NOTE: Special Topics STAT 498, cannot be used in place of or substitute required coursework for the Math or ACMS major. We have plenty of space in STAT 498C Agile Data Science and the course may be of interest to Math and ACMS students. The course has no major restrictions, and attached please find the course syllabus. STAT 498C Sln 20767 TTh 4:30 to 5:50 ARC 160 Course Description: Agile Data Science adapts the tools and processes of Agile Software Development. Students will learn those tools and processes in a project-based environment which will reward collaboration in small groups working toward a final data science deliverable. The project may be an analysis, a dashboard, or a competitive predictive model; suggested projects will be provided but students may propose their own. Class sessions will be a mix of lectures and active group work. The goal of the course is for students to become skilled in the collaborative and iterative nature of data science, emphasizing that these skills are best developed through hands-on practice. Thanks for sharing this with your students!
