Dear Students,
I wanted to make sure you were aware of some of the amazing events coming
up in May through the Open Scholarship Commons
<https://www.lib.washington.edu/openscholarship> (OSC). There are many
bite-sized data visualization workshops, as well as many longer trainings
on how to better use Excel in your academic work or life. I look forward to
seeing you soon at these events, and you should always feel free to contact
the Libraries or set up a consultation to talk about your own research!
Best,
Kira Wyld

pertaining to the manipulation of visual representation, explain the human
interpretation of pictographs, and start a conversation about how to read a
picture or visualization.

language as a tool to aid in their qualitative humanities work. Together,
we will learn how to read and make use of Python code to perform repetitive
tasks and free ourselves to do the meaningfully human parts of our
research. Attendees will leave the workshop with tools to sort Twitter
tweets by tone, create random project groups from lists of names, and
resources for further learning. No prior technological experience is
assumed -- this is a workshop for everybody!
This event is fully online and a reprise of the workshop held on April 8th.
